Dawn Greenaway grew up in Washington State, moving from city to city with her mother and older brother, as her mother changed jobs frequently. Despite the frequent moving, Dawn’s early years were fairly normal. At the age of 12, she became interested in music and started singing as a hobby. She was, by all accounts, terrible. During her teenage years, she practiced a lot. She got better at singing. She even joined a few rock bands here and there, played some shows, and got some experience. By 16, she was a proficient singer. She dyed her hair dark red and began performing under the name “Dusk,” her on-stage alter-ego. Dusk placed second in her high school’s year-end talent show in Olympia.

After finishing high school, she moved to Seattle. She got a job waitressing at a restaurant, and became fast friends with one of the cooks who played guitar. Together, they formed a band called POISONBERRY. Over the next year, they had a revolving door of band members, but finally managed to get a solid lineup. Playing shows around Seattle began to get them a lot of attention, and they eventually made their first record, Downpour. While they made little money from the record, college radio stations from many different states began playing songs from it. They went on a 2 month tour, traveling through several cities and small towns. The tour helped build buzz, and many figured POISONBERRY would be the next big rock band to come out of Seattle. They took some time off to begin writing their second record.

During the downtime, Dawn decided to try something new. She had a big rock voice, but had never played a set by herself. She signed up to play a small acoustic gig in Friday Harbor, a small town on the San Juan Islands. Something happened in Friday Harbor. She was involved in a paranormal event and went off the radar for a few months. When she returned to Seattle, she had changed. She was increasingly erratic and unreliable. POISONBERRY entered the studio to record their second album.

The record, Libertine Queen, was a departure from the previous album, with most of the songs having excessively hedonistic and nihilist undertones. Despite the shift, the record was popular in the Pacific Northwest music scene. Buzz for the band was never higher, and it seemed like they would be national stars by the end of the year. Touring was rough. Dusk, unable to cope with what she had seen in Friday Harbor, turned to drugs and alcohol. She began showing up late, performed while intoxicated, and was very withdrawn, rarely speaking with her bandmates. Finally, the band got their big break. POISONBERRY was scheduled to appear on national television. Their years of hard work had paid off. Minutes before showtime, Dusk was found in her room, unconscious from an apparent overdose. She was rushed to the hospital and stabilized, but her band had had enough. She was kicked out.

Dusk dropped out of Seattle’s public eye. After wallowing in self-pity for a couple of months, she started taking a course in private investigation. Upon completion of the course, she began freelancing, searching for other paranormal events to investigate. Whatever was out there…she had to know.

  • Unknown to her, her father is a mid-ranking Templar bureaucrat. She hates his guts.
  • Other San Juan Islands survivors, notably Marcus Treadwell and Lysor.
  • Her old band refuses to work with her professionally, but they still view her as family.
  • Her mother works for USPS.
  • Various contacts throughout Seattle - if she needs something there, she can probably get it.
  • Dawn is a mortal, and is considerably weaker than the average Secret Worlder. She can be permanently killed.
  • Notable skills:
    • Basic firearms training
    • Singing
    • Surveillance
    • Stealth (hiding from danger as opposed to intrusion)
    • Computer use
    • Locksmithing
    • Investigation

To the skeptics:

"It's out there. Call of the Void, here I come."
